What you'll learn

Welcome to our course aimed at equipping practitioners with essential skills to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) effectively. The Code of Practice sets out clear requirements for SEND provision, and this course will provide you with a basic overview to ensure compliance and understanding.

Throughout this training, we will define the roles of the SENDCo and practitioners in implementing the graduated response approach, ensuring adherence to the Equality Act for promoting access and inclusion for all learners. You’ll gain insights into how to create inclusive environments where every child feels valued and supported.

Our course will empower keyworkers with the skills to conduct comprehensive initial assessments for children with SEND, fostering effective collaboration with parents. You’ll learn how to develop actionable plans based on these assessments, incorporating measurable goals and strategies to support each child’s unique development journey.

We’ll also delve into the significance of early identification processes and the benefits of early intervention in addressing children’s needs promptly. Through practical examples and case studies, you’ll understand how to identify and support children with SEND effectively from an early age.

Finally, we’ll explore practical strategies, such as implementing basic visual structures, to create inclusive learning environments for children with SEND. By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to facilitate inclusive practices and support the diverse needs of all learners in your setting.

Join us on this journey to enhance your understanding and practice in supporting children with SEND, ensuring they receive the care and support they need to thrive and succeed.
