Little Dragons has been a client for over four years, having accessed our support services since prior to their opening.
When they had a reportable incident occur and a visit from Ofsted they contacted us for some advisory support in ensuring they would remain compliant. Another visit from Ofsted brought the shock news that this Outstanding setting had then been suspended for a six week period. Ofsted wanted to see clear and swift improvements in certain areas and it was an important part of their being able to re-open. It was at this point that they asked us to go all out to help them get where they needed to be.
We immediately jumped into action and after an initial phone call and visit to the nursery, we set-about building the actions needed and established a complete programme of events to meet the Ofsted requirements.

We then constructed the full Action Plan to present to Ofsted, created from training, outlining activites and requirements needed over the next 12 months e.g. Audits & Training delivery.
It’s not the fact that MBK Early Years was able to deliver all this that was remarkable though. It was the fact that we completed all this and developed the action plan within 2 weeks of the suspension occurring. Then because of the swift action taken and the clear route to sustained improvement had been identified, Ofsted allowed the setting to re-open after only 2 weeks on suspension.
It is because MBK Early Years knows and understands all of the legislative requirements, through running 8 of their own nurseries, that they are able to respond and provide intensive support with their team of consutlants that achieved this outcome to happen.
We continue to work with Little Dragons, supporting their sustained improvement through team alignment days, coaching and cpd training, alongside quality audits and being available to advise on things such as the new EYFS requirements and the changes in the Inspection Framework.
